I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again: nothing fosters vehicle research quite like a little healthy competition. The organizers of the world’s first electric motorcycle racing series, the TTXGP, have just announced a new league just for electric cars. Called the EMXGP, the series is designed to take place on regular city streets. Which locality gets the honor of hosting the very first race? Look no further than the Parisian borough of Levallois. The course has already been laid out, and features a run along the Seine. So far there’s no word as to what manufacturers will show up on the grid when the flag drops on June 4, 2010 or what the rules are as far as powertrain restrictions. We wouldn’t mind seeing Tesla and Fisker settle a score or two fender to fender.
EMXGP is also keeping future venues to itself.
It’s been a big week for organizer Azhar Hussain. Aside from Mission One deciding to side with TTXGP instead of the new electric motorcycle series sanctioned by FIM and the announcement of the EMXGP, Hussain also announced a new venue for his two-wheeled competition. The TTXGP will officially stop by Canada next year. The championship series will feature a race at Mosport International Raceway just outside of Toronto.
