Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R is a rolling testament to the ability to overcome obstacles through technology. With enough driver aides to turn nearly anyone into a Michael Schumacher stunt double and better performance than cars with more power and higher MSRPs, the tech aboard the GT-R is second to none. So it’s no real surprise to hear the company is considering using hybrid technology to bolster Godzilla’s performance without sacrificing fuel economy.

Supposedly engineers are looking into bringing a drivetrain similar to the Infiniti Essence Concept to Nissan’s supercar. That means we could expect a 3.7-liter V6 with around 440 horsepower and a 160 horsepower electric motor. Even hardcore purists would have a hard time arguing with a 600 horsepower version of the GT-R with up to 30 mpg. If you’re getting excited, so are we. Unfortunately, the layout is only in development stage. If it does hit production, we won’t see it until 2013 at the earliest.
